  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter (softened for dough and filling)
  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour

  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh herbs (thyme, parsley, or rosemary)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Prepare the yeast by combining warm milk, sugar, and yeast in a bowl; let sit until foamy (about 10 minutes).
  2. Mix eggs and softened butter into the yeast mixture, then gradually add flour and salt; knead until smooth.
  3. Place the dough in a warm area and let it rise for about an hour.
  4. For the filling, melt butter in a pan, add minced garlic and herbs; set aside to cool.
  5. Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle and brush with garlic herb butter; sprinkle mozzarella evenly.
  6. Roll the dough into a log, slice lengthwise to reveal swirls, twist halves together and place in a greased baking pan.
  7. Let the loaf rise again for about 30–40 minutes before brushing with an egg wash.
