  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey
  • 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup beef or vegetable broth

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef or turkey in a large skillet over medium heat for about 5-7 minutes until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
  2. Transfer the browned meat to the slow cooker. Add kidney beans, black beans, crushed tomatoes, onion, garlic, bell pepper, chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, black pepper, and broth. Stir well to combine.
  3. Cover the slow cooker and set it to low for 6 hours or high for 3 hours.
  4. About 30 minutes before serving, taste the chili and adjust seasonings as needed.
  5. Serve hot in bowls and garnish with desired toppings.
