- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup (8 Tbsp; 113g) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
- 1 cup (200g) packed dark brown sugar
- 1 large egg, at room temperature
- 1/3 cup (80ml) pure maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon maple extract
- 1 cup (130g) chopped pecans
- 2 Tablespoons (28g) unsalted butter for icing
- 1/3 cup (80ml) pure maple syrup for icing
- 1 cup (112g) sifted confectioners’ sugar for icing
- Pinch salt, to taste for icing
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
- Cream softened butter and dark brown sugar until smooth. Add egg, then mix in maple syrup, vanilla extract, and maple extract.
- Gradually combine dry ingredients with wet mixture, then fold in chopped pecans.
- Chill dough for at least 2 hours before rolling into balls.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C) and line baking sheets.
- Bake cookies for 12-13 minutes until edges are lightly browned.
- Cool on wire racks before drizzling with maple icing.
