  • 2 lbs ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 6 hamburger buns, torn into pieces
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • Dill pickles and diced onions for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown ground beef with onion and garlic. Mix in Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  3. In a bowl, combine torn buns with melted butter and sesame seeds.
  4. In a baking dish, layer half of the bun mixture, followed by half of the beef mixture and half of the special sauce. Repeat layers and top with cheddar cheese.
  5. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and add American cheese slices; bake uncovered for an additional 10 minutes until bubbly.
